da poker: A selection of Newcastle United fans have been reacting on social media to comments from Toon ball boy Lucas Rochford, after the Magpies academy player gave Miguel Almiron an encouraging thumbs up during Sunday’s draw with Wolverhampton Wanderers.
da dobrowin: Almiron has endured a challenging season thus far under Steve Bruce, as the Paraguay star strives in search of his maiden Newcastle goal or assist, having failed to capitalise on any of his prior efforts in Black and White.
Sunday again saw Almiron presented with a chance to break his duck, but his effort on the half-hour mark was not turned home.

Rochford, sitting yards from the 25-year-old, sought to offer Almiron some encouragement, though, and went viral after he was spotted giving the attacking midfielder a thumbs up from the sidelines.
The 10-year-old’s dad has since spoken with the Chronicle regarding the moment, and noted how his son just wanted to keep Almiron’s spirits up.
“I asked him about it and he said, ‘He missed his chance and I wanted him to keep his chin up and keep working hard, so I was clapping and giving him the thumbs up’.
“He said there were lots of people behind him shouting and screaming and saying ‘you’re rubbish’, although that’s probably not the exact word they were using. Lucas said ‘I just didn’t think that was very nice, he’s playing for the team they support’.”
Sunday’s appearance was Almiron’s 20th for Newcastle since moving to St. James’ Park in January for a then-club-record £21million.
In those, he has fashioned 33 shots and 18 key passes, although only ten of his efforts on goal have been on target.
