da wazamba: Whether you’re a Liverpool fan or not, you’ve got to feel sorry for striker Danny Ings, who has endured a tough start to his career with the Reds.
da betano casino: Despite signing over a year ago, the former Burnley hot-shot has featured only nine times for the Reds first team due to an anterior cruciate ligament injury suffered in October last year. That ruled him out for nearly the entirety of the season before he made a comeback against West Brom on the final day.
Since signing for the club, the manager has changed, players have come and gone and the whole team has a very different feel about it. Many have suggested Ings won’t be able to break back into the first-team after such a long spell out but we think the one-time England international has a real point to prove.
So with that in mind, here are three reasons why Danny Ings can now challenge for the Liverpool striking role for the remainder of the season…
The goals are coming back
Danny Ings opened the scoring for Liverpool U23s in their 4-0 win over Leicester City last weekend with a goal that shows he’s on his way back.
It took the former Burnley favourite just three minutes to open the scoring, finding space before slotting home from a Ben Woodburn cross. It was the perfect goal for a striker of Ings’ calibre to dispatch and the 24-year-old deserves credit for picking himself back up again.
People forget he’s just 24-years-old and has already scored over 60 professional goals. He’s been prolific before and there no reason he can’t pick it back up again on his return to first-team action.
He’s got a huge point to prove
It’s always difficult for players to prove themselves to new managers when they’re not “their signing” but for Ings, it’s even tougher. Not only was he one of Brendan Rodgers’ final buys, he’s also not had the chance to prove himself on the training pitch to new manager Klopp.
It’ll be a tough ask to prove to the German that he could displace the likes of Sturridge and Firmino but for Ings, it’s a massive point that he has to prove if he is to do well at Anfield.
He can genuinely help the team
Make no qualms about it, Danny Ings is a player that can help Liverpool achieve success this season. With Sturridge still struggling with injuries and form and Firmino playing well up front, there is a definite gap that needs filling at Anfield.
Danny Ings spoke about his time breaking back into the squad during the pre-season tour this summer and it really feels that he could come in and make a difference at some point this season.
He’s quick, knows where the net is and most of all, wants to do well.
