da bet nacional: Sheffield Wednesday reporter Dom Howson has revealed in his recent column for The Star that he expects chairman Dejphon Chansiri to come out fighting against the latest charges facing him.
What’s he said?
Earlier this week, the controversial owner was charged by the English Football League, along with several authoritative figures at the club, for financial misconduct in relation to the sale of Hillsborough stadium.
If found guilty, the Thai businessman could be banned from football indefinitely, although no punishment has been confirmed as of yet.

It is believed, according to one football finance expert, that the Owls could be tasked with a 12-point deduction at the very least meaning any playoff hopes will quickly be banished as the club would drop closer to the relegation zone.
Howson has highlighted how Chansiri won’t back down from this with so much at risk of being tarnished, he said:
“I understand Chansiri is expected to return to England later this month. Knowing Chansiri like I do, he will not take these charges lying down. This case is threatening to damage his and the club’s reputation.”
Track record
The Owls chief can fight all he likes, but his track record speaks for itself. This dark cloud over the club is somewhat worrying, especially as there is no timeframe on when such penalties could occur.
Under his stewardship, Wednesday have been put under two transfer embargoes – most notably following their 2016 playoff heartbreak as copious amounts of money were wasted on fees and wages in the transfer market.
They are now in this situation because of his very actions in trying to offset any debts by selling Hillsborough to himself in order to meet Financial Fair Play regulations for the 2017/18 season.
It’ll be the fans that suffer most from this.
